In the first half of the course, the basic biophysical concepts of neuroscience, the biological structures and molecular functions of nerve cells, the interaction of neurons at the molecular level, the molecular pathways of neurochemical transmission and the electrochemical basis of neurotransmission will be covered. In the second half of the course, the motor components of the nervous system and the brain regions and functions that are effective in the regulation of motor movements will be discussed.

The study of the syntax of natural languages within the framework of 'Principles and Modifiers' theory (or any other formal linguistic theory) is important for Cognitive Science because the main purpose of these theories is to present formally a set of knowledge that resides in the human mind. Our starting assumption is that speakers' knowledge of their native language has operational commonalities with other cognitive processes in the mind.
