AKTS'nin Temel Özellikleri

Main Features of the ECTS
* Students studying abroad within the framework of the ECTS do not have to be limited to a preset time period, and they can stay in the host institution until they complete their program.
* Moreover, students can also transfer to a third Institution if they wish to do so.
* Decisions regarding the acceptance of such requests, conditions for the awarding of degrees or transfers, and requirements regarding the academic achievement of exchange students are to be made by the relevant institutions.
* Institutions offer all courses and exams taken by their own students to exchange students as well, without making any changes to the current structure of their courses or evaluation methods.
* The first thing to be done by a student who decides to study abroad within the framework of the ECTS is to identify institutions of higher education that offer the same program that they are currently following.
* To this end, they can refer to Information Packages prepared by institutions participating in the ECTS, which provide information about the institution, the structure of the curriculum, and course contents.
* After identifying the host institution to be attended, the student fills out an application form, and a three-party learning agreement is made between the student, the student's own institution, and the institution that the student will attend to study abroad, in order to ensure academic recognition.
* Due to the differences between countries in terms of their education and grading systems, the use of a common language is necessary to identify the workload of students and ensure the proper transfer of grades.
* To this end, ECTS credits are assigned to each course, and the grades obtained are transformed into letter grades using the ECTS grading scale.
* ECTS coordinators play an active role in this whole process, both by acting as consultants and helping solve any potential problems.
