DataMedX Hackathon: Young Minds Shaping the Future of Health Technologies

Organized by Istinye University from May 23 to 25, 2025, the DataMedX Hackathon brought together high school students around the themes of healthcare, artificial intelligence, and data science. Held in person at the Main Conference Hall of the Vadi Campus, the event provided students with the opportunity to work with real healthcare data over the course of three days, developing projects that aim to shape the future of health technologies. The goal of the event was to encourage young people to be productive in the fields of science and technology, supporting them as individuals capable of solving the problems of tomorrow.

Real Solutions with Real Data

Supported by the technical and academic expertise of the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences at Istinye University, students actively participated in all stages of project development throughout the hackathon—from idea generation to prototyping—under the guidance of mentors. While creating solutions in areas such as artificial intelligence algorithms, data analytics, user experience, and health technologies, participants also developed key skills like teamwork, problem-solving, and time management.

The projects developed during the event spanned a wide range—from smart diagnostic systems to digital health tracking tools. Topics such as food technology, mental health, patient data management, and preventive healthcare were approached with creativity and innovation. Students experienced the excitement of creating AI-supported projects for the healthcare field using engineering-based approaches.

Future Engineers and Entrepreneurs Recognized with Awards

At the end of the competition, the most successful projects were awarded based on jury evaluations. First, second, and third place prizes were presented, and all participants were commended for their original ideas and technical competencies. The hackathon, which was completely free to attend, offered high school students a valuable preview into both academic and professional worlds.

Investing in Youth at Istinye University

With its interdisciplinary vision, Istinye University continues to host events that enable young people to engage in hands-on scientific and technological innovation. The DataMedX Hackathon exemplified the university’s approach to uniting the fields of health and engineering under a shared vision. The university aims to continue organizing similar events in the coming years to unlock the potential of future generations.
