ISU undertakes the National Coordination of the ATLAS Experiment

ATLAS, which is an experiment at the world’s largest research laboratory CERN, consists of a multi-purpose detector system built on the Large Hadron Collider. The contributions of all the researchers from Turkish institutions are coordinated by ISU as of December 21st, 2021.

Professor Serkant Ali Çetin, who is the ATLAS Experiment National Contact Physicist and ISU Director of Institute of Science, coordinates the project funded by TENMAK (Turkish Energy, Nuclear and Mineral Research Agency) with a budget of ~6 million TL. ISU adopted Experimental High Energy and Particle Physics into its primary R&D areas, and hosts five senior physicists who are members of the ATLAS Experiment.  With this number, ISU running the ATLAS National Project, has the largest volume of senior researchers at ATLAS among Turkish universities.
