Pedagogical Initiative by Digital Game Design Students
On Monday 27 April, 2026, students from the Digital Game Design department organized an art workshop named "WE TEACH: ART BASICS" in which the students Eilaf Salah S. Alsherbini and her classmate Elif Su İleri acted as hosts and instructors with the help of the student Zeynep Esin Temür who participated in this event as an assistant.
In this event, the instructors guided 15 students from the Digital Game Design department throughout a series of activities in which the students were drawing and practicing. After being handed a simple art kit made up of papers, erasers, pencils, and pens, the participating students were invited to draw a relatively complex subject to showcase the challenge involved in drawing.

Through examples and demonstrations, the students learned about lines, shapes, and perspective and how all those elements contribute to the composition of an artwork. The workshop also involved working with references and demonstrations of the importance of anatomy. And very typically of bonafide artists, the hosts highlighted the importance of not just practice, but perfect practice, which involves knowing how to practice in order to improve.

According to the hosts, the workshop progressed smoothly and everyone saw a major improvement when it comes to their art skills. They also hinted to the fact that this might become a series of workshops in which students will be instructing other students to learn more about the different processes involved, not just in art, but in game development in general. This initiative, highlights the Digital Game Design students' commitment to collaboration, learning, and improving as game designers.
