Within the scope of international collaboration, international student recruitment and promotion of our University, we visited Baku State University, Azerbaijan Medical University and Azerbaijan Ministry of Health, which are located in the capital of Azerbaijan, Baku, between the dates 26-27 October. At the end of the meeting which was carried out by the Vice-Chancellor of Istinye University, Prof. Dr. Erdal Karaöz and the Rector of Baku State University, Abel Maharramov, a bilateral cooperation protocol between the two universities was signed. The planning of forthcoming joint projects was made in our detailed negotiation. With the signed protocol, the universities will be able to exchange academic staff, organize scientific seminars, conferences and projects, create joint publications and carry out cooperative works with the aim of internationalizing the curriculum.
As the collaborative work of Istinye University and Liv Hospital, our Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Erdal Karaöz made a presentation titled “Contemporary Stem Cell Therapies”, besides introducing Istinye University and Liv Hospital in a panel which was held in Thalassemia Center in the city of Baku, Azerbaijan. After that, a presentation about “Laparoscopic Pancreatic Surgery and ERCP” was made by Liv Hospital Department of General Surgery, Dr. Kemal DOLAY.
We have reached an agreement in principle as a result of our meeting with Azerbaijan Medical University Vice-Rector on International Relations Nadir A. Zeynalov and Vice-Rector on Scientific Studies Baylarov Rauf Oruc and informing them elaborately about our university. Following the signing of the protocol, which will be done in a week, negotiations on the joint projects will be conducted.
Meeting with Azerbaijan Ministry of Health, International Relations Department Head Samir Abdullayev, we have reached an agreement in principle between our University and the Ministry. Within the scope of this agreement, it is planned to provide educational opportunities in our university, such as Master’s, PhD and certificate programmes as well as providing doctor support in the field of health if necessary, and making patient transfers to our hospitals.
