Graduating from the Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department at Istinye University was one of the most transformative experiences of my life. I didn’t just learn how to cook; I explored the science behind the kitchen, its cultural richness, history, and sustainability. Under the guidance of our academic staff, I became well-equipped both theoretically and practically, and I gained a true sense of professional discipline. This place gave me not only a profession but also a vision for the future.

Graduating from the Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department at Istinye University was a special journey during which I learned a great deal about the profession and had the opportunity to develop myself. The fact that I am currently pursuing a master’s degree in the same department is the clearest reflection of how satisfied I am with both the program and the university.Thanks to the structured and disciplined nature of our department, my transition into professional life was much smoother and more solid. In particular, the vision and guidance provided by our department head, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Çağla Özer, laid strong foundations for this process. Her contributions greatly enhanced our ability to develop both theoretical knowledge and practical skills equally. Even during challenging times like the pandemic, we never compromised on practical Training-continuing hands-on classes at home helped reinforce our commitment to the profession. Staying connected to the kitchen throughout that period kept our motivation and passion high. The mandatory internship experience offered by our department was also incredibly valuable for me. Getting to know the real kitchen environment, applying what I had learned in the field, and experiencing the discipline of a professional kitchen firsthand played a significant role in my professional development. The experience I gained during my internship made the post-graduation adaptation process much easier. With the support of our instructors, I graduated not only as a professionally competent individual but also as a confident one. I collected many valuable memories and built lasting friendships during my time in this department. I am truly grateful to have been a part of Istinye University and to have chosen this field.

Throughout my undergraduate education, I deepened my theoretical knowledge thanks to our expert and inspiring instructors and chefs, and I was well-prepared for the industry through hands-on courses. I was trained with an innovative and visionary educational approach that encouraged creativity. Today, as a graduate who is aware of the industry's dynamics, passionate about their profession, and continuing their education, I proudly carry the values and knowledge my university has given me.

Studying Gastronomy and Culinary Arts at Istinye University taught us many things. Most importantly, it showed us that gastronomy is not just the art of cooking, but also a vital global factor involving nutrition, sustainability, and the history of gastronomy. However, for me, the most important aspect was learning how to work with a specific team in the kitchen. It also played a significant role in developing my creative thinking skills.

In today’s rapidly changing conditions, we aim to go beyond traditional teaching methods that rely on fixed knowledge.
