Joint Commemoration Event by ISU QUALITY and the Women’s Rights and Solidarity Club: “Tie a Ribbon Too”
The ISU QUALITY Club and the Women’s Rights and Solidarity Club organized a joint commemoration event across three campuses in 2025 to honor the memory of women who lost their lives due to violence and to raise social awareness.
As part of the event, organized in collaboration between the ISU QUALITY Club and the Women’s Rights and Solidarity Club operating within Istinye University, three trees located on campus were designated as memorials.
The event was held with the participation of students and academic and administrative staff:
- Tuesday, December 23 (13.00–16.00) – at the tree located at the Vadi H Entrance area,
- Tuesday, December 23 (15.30–18.00) – at the tree located at the Health Sciences Entrance area of the Topkapı Campus,
- Thursday, December 25 (12.00–18.00) – in front of the Vadi Main Library building.
During the commemoration activities held across three different campuses, photographs of women who lost their lives due to violence in 2025 were hung on tree branches with purple ribbons. While each photograph represented a life and each ribbon symbolized a life left unfinished, participants expressed a message of solidarity through the call “Tie a Ribbon Too.”
The event aimed to raise awareness on women’s rights, strengthen the sense of social responsibility, and reinforce the culture of solidarity within the university community. This joint initiative was carried out as a reflection of the university’s understanding of social contribution and sustainability within the framework of its quality culture.
