The opening ceremony of the 2025–2026 Academic Year at our university was held on October 6, 2025 with great enthusiasm and pride. As part of the ceremony, individuals and projects from among our academic staff and students who made valuable contributions to society were honored with the “Societal Contribution Awards.”
Presented for the first time this year to encourage and highlight work centered on social benefit, these awards demonstrate our university’s commitment to strengthening its connection with society. Exemplary projects carried out in various fields such as education, health, environment, culture and arts, and social responsibility were deemed worthy of recognition following the meticulous evaluations of the selection committee.
In his opening speech, our Rector Prof. Dr. Erkan İBİŞ stated, “Making a positive contribution to humanity and the environment, and embracing quality along with human-centered change and transformation, is a necessity for our institutions in a rapidly changing world. Our vision, which is student- and learning-oriented, strengthened by research and technology, and identified with quality, sustainability, ethics, and values, forms the basis of our outlook for the next decade. We are not only a university of science but also of culture and art. We will continue to keep societal contribution, as well as activities related to culture and the arts, among our main priorities,” and thanked the academics and students who received awards.
We sincerely congratulate all our academic staff and students who were awarded for their societal contribution-focused projects and activities, and wish them continued success.
