About the Meeting
The New Carbon Economy Consortium (NCEC), a collaboration of leading universities, national laboratories, financiers, NGOs, and industry partners advancing a carbon-conscious future, will convene its 2026 Annual Meeting to accelerate pathways for large-scale carbon removal deployment and a just transition toward a negative-emissions economy. The meeting will bring current and prospective members together to align on shared priorities, emerging science, and actionable solutions.

Agenda
Presentations and panel discussions will address technology, green and blue carbon, sustainable finance, carbon markets, policy and governance, strategic energy transformation, social impact, entrepreneurship, corporate practices, and decision-support approaches, together with breakout sessions and site-visit activities.

Klaus Lackner, Emeritus Professor, Arizona State University — widely regarded as the “grandfather” of Direct Air Capture (DAC).
The NCEC 2026 Annual Meeting takes place shortly before COP31 (9–20 November 2026, Antalya, Türkiye).

Peer Review & Publication
All abstracts and full papers undergo double-blind peer review by at least two expert reviewers before acceptance. Selected papers may be considered for publication as book chapters in the Springer volume The New Carbon Economy: Economic Modeling, Optimization, and Strategic Energy Transformation (Studies in Systems, Decision and Control). Publication is selective and subject to peer review, editorial evaluation, compliance with Springer requirements, and final approval by the publisher.
