The “Particle Accelerators and Detectors Local Infrastructure and R&D Workshop” held in memory of Prof. Dr. Engin Arık and his colleagues who lost their lives in the plane crash in Isparta on November 30, 2007 hosted by our University's Department of Basic Sciences High Energy and Particle Physics Research Group with the support of TÜBİTAK.
The event, held in a hybrid format on November 29-30, 2025, was attended by 120 experts and students. The workshop provided information and evaluation on locally conducted R&D activities and infrastructure facilities related to particle accelerators and particle detectors.
With over 20 presentations, the workshop evaluated the advanced physics and engineering-based design, production, and operational capacity of detectors and accelerators conducted at various institutions in Turkey. Information was also shared about three international delegations that visited Turkey in the last quarter of 2025, which were of critical importance for Turkey: the CERN-Turkey Knowledge Transfer Summit, the CERN Task Force's five-year review visit, and the European Committee for Future Accelerators (ECFA) Restricted-ECFA country visit.
