Operating under Istinye University with a mission to serve national interests by conducting research and developing strategies on international relations, Turkish foreign policy, regional and global conflicts, national defense and security, terrorism, critical infrastructure security, health and seed security, urban safety, migration, CBRN, and cyber security, the Center for Security and Defense Strategies Research and Application (GÜVSAM) addresses the devastating earthquake centered in Kahramanmaraş in the February 2023 issue of its bulletin.
In the bulletin, titled “The Great Disaster: Rethinking Disaster Management” and authored by GÜVSAM Director Prof. Dr. Fahri Erenel, topics include survival tips from earthquake victims, factors contributing to the resilience of those rescued from the rubble, insights from international experiences such as the Kobe Earthquake in Japan, the societal integration of the "earthquake" phenomenon in Japanese daily life, and the psychological impact known as "earthquake fear."
