İstinye University Commemorates Prof. Dr. Yasemin Buran Çırak with Respect

İstinye University held a heartfelt memorial ceremony in honor of Prof. Dr. Yasemin Buran Çırak, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, who made significant contributions to academia and her students with her remarkable work and life. The ceremony, attended by academic and administrative staff, students, and her family, was filled with emotional tributes.

The ceremony began with a moment of silence, followed by a presentation highlighting key milestones in Prof. Dr. Çırak’s academic and professional life. Her colleagues, family, and students shared their reflections on her academic achievements, positive influence on students, and deeply human qualities. Speakers from the Faculty of Health Sciences including Dr. Nurgül Dürüstkan Elbaşı and Assoc. Prof. Refika Genç Koyuncu, along with Vice Secretary General Begüm Usta and Rector Prof. Dr. Erkan İbiş, shared their personal memories.

“What matters most is to live with human values”

Rector Prof. Dr. Erkan İbiş emphasized not only Prof. Dr. Çırak’s academic excellence but also her compassion and integrity:
“The world is a stage, and we each play our role before exiting. What truly matters is how we fill that time—with love, compassion, hard work, and universal human values. Today we are here to remember a brilliant scientist who spent her 45 years creating, leading, and living with purpose.”

“She touched the lives of many”

Acting Dean Assoc. Prof. Refika Genç Koyuncu added:
“She trained many students and helped many patients. Her passion for knowledge and teaching will live on through the students she inspired.”

“We will keep her memory alive”

Vice Secretary General Begüm Usta noted:
“Prof. Dr. Çırak was a reasonable, solution-oriented, and loving person. Her legacy will continue through her students and academic work. May her and her family’s place be paradise. We will keep her memory alive.”

Prof. Dr. Yasemin Buran Çırak will be remembered not only for her academic contributions but also for her human values and the positive impact she made on countless lives. The İstinye University community mourns her loss in unity and solidarity and is committed to carrying her legacy forward.
