The event titled “Journey to Uzbekistan: Language, Literature, and Gastronomy,” held at our university, brought participants into contact with the rich atmosphere of Uzbek culture by exploring the cultural heritage of the Turkic world through the lenses of language, literature, and culinary culture.

Organized by the Department of Turkish Language and Literature at İstinye University, the event titled “Journey to Uzbekistan: Language, Literature, and Gastronomy” was held with strong participation from both faculty and students. The event comprehensively explored the historical legacy of Uzbek culture through the lenses of literature, language, and gastronomy.

As part of the program, while views were shared on the common cultural values of the Turkic world and the significant values of Uzbek cuisine, participants had the opportunity to gain knowledge about the Uzbek language, literary traditions, and cultural transmission processes. The event also featured an introduction to the standout flavors and gastronomic heritage of Uzbek cuisine.

An Academic Contribution to the Shared Cultural Memory of the Turkic World

During the event, a presentation delivered by instructor and translator Umida Gapirova highlighted the importance of shared linguistic and cultural ties across the Turkic world. While emphasizing the significance of Uzbekistan’s historical and cultural heritage, the presentation also explored connections to the values of Uzbek cuisine.

As part of the program, the “Journey to Uzbekistan” exhibition opened to the public at the Vadi H campus with the honorary presence of Sherzod Abdunazarov, Consul General of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Istanbul.
