Our university celebrated its 11th anniversary with a ceremony attended by our academic staff, students, and administrative personnel, highlighting both the achievements of the past years and our strong goals for the future.
The ceremony held as part of the 11th anniversary celebrations of our university took place with wide participation and in a highly enthusiastic atmosphere. In the program, where academic and administrative staff, students, and guests came together, attention was drawn to the journey that began in 2015 and the point our university has reached today.
The opening speech of the program was delivered by our Rector, Prof. Dr. Erkan İbiş. In his speech, Prof. Dr. İbiş emphasized that Istinye University has achieved significant academic success in a short time and stated that efforts in scientific production, internationalization, and social contribution will continue to increase.
Prof. Dr. Erkan İbiş said:
“At the 11th anniversary of our university, we are experiencing great pride. By using time efficiently—almost compressing three years into one—we are rapidly advancing toward our goal of becoming one of the world’s leading universities. The most fundamental dynamics that have made us a strong and established institution are our universal values. Acting with a third-generation, new-generation university vision, we focus on data and technology orientation, sustainability, innovative transformation, and gender equality. We carry out our work with determination, guided by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’s words that ‘the greatest capital of institutions is working hard with reason, knowledge, science, ethics, and method.’ Together with all our stakeholders who have witnessed our major achievements in the first 10 years, I wholeheartedly believe that our university will achieve even greater success in its 20th year. We will continue to work tirelessly and consistently with all our stakeholders to concretize our vision and elevate the future of our university.”
Following the opening speeches, our Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Muharrem Usta, shared the founding vision of our university and its future goals.
Dr. Muharrem Usta stated:
“It is good that we have built nearly 40 hospitals over 35 years in healthcare; we have come to better understand that hospital management is not only a service production field but also a very valuable source for knowledge production. Thanks to the data and depth we possess, I have seen that we can now sit side by side with global organizations, with whom I once wondered ‘why would they engage with us,’ and discuss very important projects. In the next 5 years, I feel great confidence that Istinye University will reach a very important position globally in technology production. We will all witness that Istinye University will become a global brand we are extremely proud of. The next five years will be a completely different journey for all of us, and this institution will become one of the most important contributors to global knowledge production.”
Emphasis on Effort, Achievement, and Belonging in the 11-Year Journey
As part of the ceremony, a special video featuring messages prepared by members of the Istinye University community for the 11th anniversary was presented to participants. One of the most meaningful moments of the program was the awarding of certificates to academic and administrative staff who completed 10 years at the university. Employees who have devoted many years to the institution were honored on stage with applause.
In the ceremony where academic achievements also stood out, the 2025 Academic Incentive Awards were presented to their recipients. Academicians who produced significant publications indexed in international databases, particularly in Scopus Q1, Q2, and Q3 categories, were awarded in different categories based on their publication output and were congratulated for their scientific productivity.
The ceremony continued with a concert program reflecting the unifying power of music. Participants had the opportunity to celebrate the 11-year journey of success accompanied by art.
