Prof. Dr. Abdullah Uğur Tanyeli, who contributed significantly to our university as Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Design and Architecture, Rector’s Advisor, and Faculty Member between 2020 and 2026, has retired after 50 years in his profession.
A ceremony was held during a senate meeting to honor our esteemed faculty member, whose academic expertise and deep knowledge of architecture have greatly contributed to the development of our university. In his speech, our Rector, Prof. Dr. Erkan İbiş, acknowledged Prof. Dr. Tanyeli’s respected standing in the academic world and his significant contributions to both the field of architecture and our university, presenting him with a certificate of appreciation.
Recognized as an architectural historian, critic, and academic known for his work on the cultural, intellectual, and historiographical dimensions of architecture, Uğur Tanyeli continues to be an influential public intellectual in Turkey. Through his numerous books, articles, and opinion pieces, he has bridged academia, critique, and historiography, paving the way for architecture to exist as a space for debate and discussion.
Throughout his tenure, Prof. Dr. Tanyeli made substantial contributions to strengthening educational processes, increasing academic productivity, and integrating a high-quality design and architectural approach into our institutional structure. We sincerely thank him for his invaluable services to our university and wish him health and happiness in the years ahead.
