Istinye University advanced its academic collaboration with Justus Liebig University Giessen, one of Germany’s most established higher education institutions, to a new stage through an international workshop.

As part of its internationalization vision, Istinye University (ISU) continues to strengthen its academic collaboration with Justus Liebig University Giessen, which has been ongoing since 2022. In this context, the “Collaborative Medical Sciences Workshop in Microbiology, Pathology, and Oncology,” held on 16 April 2026 at ISU Vadi Main Campus under the coordination of NEXUS International, further advanced the scientific interaction between the two institutions.

New Horizons in Scientific Collaboration

Within the scope of the workshop, Prof. Dr. Stefan Gattenlöhner and Prof. Dr. Trinad Chakraborty from Justus Liebig University Giessen met with academics from Istinye University Faculty of Medicine. During the meetings led by Prof. Dr. Ozan Özkaya, ongoing collaborations between the two universities since 2022 were evaluated, and strategic goals for the future were also defined.

The discussions focused on key areas such as the development of joint R&D projects in microbiology, pathology, and oncology, the diversification of academic training programs, and the expansion of international mobility opportunities for students and academics.

Strong Support for International Collaboration

This strategic workshop was carried out with the support of the Turkish German Health Foundation. The Foundation’s contribution to academic cooperation and scientific diplomacy between the two institutions played a significant role. In this context, special thanks were extended to the President of the Foundation, Prof. Dr. Yaşar Bilgin, for his support.

Istinye University continues to strengthen its international academic network and remains committed to developing innovative research in medical sciences and contributing to public health through science-driven approaches.
