Türkiye’s Most Successful High School Students Come Together with Science at Our University

The Istinye University Young Scientists Academy High School Summer Research Internship Program attracted considerable interest from across Türkiye in 2026. Selected from more than 300 applicants, 110 successful high school students will take part in scientific studies conducted in the University’s research laboratories throughout the summer.

The High School Summer Research Internship Program, organized by the Istinye University Young Scientists Academy, began with strong interest. More than 300 high school students applied to the program, and following a rigorous evaluation process, 110 students were accepted for research internships.

Applications were received from many provinces across Türkiye, particularly Istanbul, Ankara, Kocaeli, Izmir, Adana, Tekirdağ, Bursa, Antalya, Manisa, Kayseri, Trabzon, Malatya, Bitlis, Şanlıurfa, Mardin, Çanakkale, Edirne, Kırklareli, Yalova, and Zonguldak, once again demonstrating the program’s nationwide appeal.

The program attracted strong interest from students attending long-established public schools such as Çemberlitaş Anatolian High School, TÜBİTAK Science High School, Kabataş Boys’ High School, Cağaloğlu Anatolian High School, Istanbul Boys’ High School, and Vefa High School, as well as educational institutions renowned for their national and international achievements, including Robert College, Üsküdar American Academy, Koç School, ENKA Schools, the German High School, Saint Benoît French High School, and Sainte Pulchérie French High School. In this way, the Young Scientists Academy once again demonstrated its position as an important scientific platform that brings together Türkiye’s most successful high school students within a shared research ecosystem.

Young People Will Gain Scientific Research Experience in University Laboratories

As part of the program, students will gain research and practical experience in the University’s laboratories and workshops across a broad range of fields, from molecular biology and genetics to artificial intelligence, robotic systems, data analysis and machine learning, neuroscience and cancer biotechnology, as well as digital media, filmmaking, and virtual reality applications.

Advanced technology- and health-oriented research fields, particularly molecular biology and genetics, stem cells and tissue engineering, cancer biotechnology, neuroscience, robotics, and embedded systems, were among the internship areas that attracted the greatest interest from students. This interest demonstrates that young people’s orientation toward scientific research and high-technology fields continues to grow stronger each year.

The majority of students admitted to the program are in the 9th, 10th, and 11th grades. Throughout the summer term, they will actively participate in research projects conducted under the guidance of academics in Istinye University’s research laboratories. In addition to laboratory studies, students will receive training in project development, scientific research methods, presentation techniques, and academic communication. They will also gain experience in presenting the projects they develop through a scientific approach.
