Our University's Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, Professor Dr. Furkan Ayaz, an academic from our Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, has been awarded the title of Visiting Professor by the Odessa National Medical University, one of Ukraine's most established institutions, for his research in the fields of immunology and biotechnology. He has also been honoured with an Honorary Doctorate.

The Ukrainian team expressed their satisfaction with Prof. Ayaz's approach, his wealth of knowledge, and the scientific projects they had jointly submitted to the European Union, and decided to invite him to their university. On 2 December 2025, at an online ceremony attended by the board of trustees and university administrators, Prof. Ayaz was awarded an Honorary Doctorate. Prior to the ceremony, Prof. Ayaz shared his research activities, biotechnological product development processes, and international cooperation vision in a comprehensive presentation lasting approximately 20 minutes. The Ukrainian side stated that they wished to further strengthen scientific cooperation and announced their intention to host Prof. Ayaz in Ukraine within the next year, depending on the course of the war, to teach, participate in projects, and continue academic interaction.
