Our university participated in The 2nd Sino-Turkish Symposium on Advanced Materials and Flexible Electronics (SAMFE) held in Nanjing, China, hosted by Nanjing Tech University, on December 2-5, 2025, and in the 8th International Symposium on Bio, Organic & Nano Electronics (ISBONE 2025) held in Nanjing, China, hosted by Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications (NJUPT), on December 6-8, 2025. Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications (NJUPT).
Our R&D team met with leading researchers from Turkey and China in the fields of flexible electronics, advanced materials, and bio-organic nanoelectronics at both events. During the visit, concrete steps were taken towards collaborations between our University and Chinese partners. Both SAMFE and ISBONE 2025 provided a broad scientific platform aimed at developing next-generation technologies at the intersection of physics, chemistry, materials science, biology, medicine, and engineering.
Representing our university, our Vice Rector responsible for R&D, Prof. Dr. Bestami Özkaya, our R&D Director, Dr. M. Mustafa Çetin, and our research faculty members, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ayça Bal Öztürk, Dr. Şenol Pişkin, and Dr. Esmail Doustkhah held various meetings on MoUs and exchange agreements, project partnerships and academic collaborations, innovation and startup activities, qualified joint studies and publications.
Prof. Dr. Özkaya participated in the plenary session with an invited speech on solid waste management and circular economy roadmaps in Istanbul, and also delivered one of the closing speeches of the symposium in his capacity as Vice Rector of İstinye University.
Scientific Groundwork Partnership on the China Line
The İstinye team also made its mark on the program with session chairmanships and scientific presentations. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ayça Bal Öztürk discussed conductive tissue adhesives inspired by mussels and their cardiovascular applications; Dr. Şenol Pişkin presented digital twin and XR-based decision support solutions for patient-centered care in cardiovascular patients. Dr. Esmaeil Doustkhah discussed metal-support interactions in catalysis, while Dr. M. Mustafa Çetin gave a joint presentation on BODIPY-based photocatalysts designed with heavy atom engineering and described the R&D ecosystem focused on science, technology, and health innovation at İstinye University.
