Excitement at the Faculty of Dentistry's White Coat Ceremony

Our University's Faculty of Dentistry brought future dentists together with their first steps into the profession at the White Coat Ceremony held on November 22, Dentists' Day. The ceremony, which saw a large turnout, was a meaningful occasion for our students, their families, and our academic staff.

First-Year Students Take Their First Step into the Profession with Their White Coats

The White Coat Ceremony began with a musical performance, followed by speeches from national and international student representatives Elif Merve Bayer and Faris Kayali, who shared their excitement about education and training. Following the opening speeches, Dr. Ertay Atalar, Member of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Dentists, offered advice to the prospective dentists. In his speech, he emphasized the strength of the academic staff and spoke about future projects, giving hope to the young prospective dentists. 

“The White Coat is a Lifetime of Learning”

The program continued with remarks by Prof. Dr. Emir Yüzbaşıoğlu, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry. Yüzbaşı said, "Dentistry is a profound journey that cannot be contained within a single lifetime. This white coat represents a lifetime of learning. Today, we are here not just for a ceremony, but to embark on a journey to the heart of the medical profession, to the meaning of the white coat, and to the Hippocratic tradition that forms the philosophical experience of this profession spanning thousands of years."

First-year students enrolled in the English and Turkish programs took their first step on their professional journey by donning their white coats, presented by our academics. This session, which drew great interest from families, concluded with a group photo.

Double Ceremony on November 22

The second session of the day also began with a musical performance. Following the performance, national and international student representatives Elif Aslı Şen and Abduallah Abbas delivered their speeches. Prof. Dr. Emir Yüzbaşıoğlu, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, who delivered the opening speech, presented an honorary plaque to Prof. Dr. Tamer Ataoğlu, Founding Dean of the faculty, on this meaningful day. Subsequently, the faculty's 4th and 5th-year students officially stepped onto the professional path of the profession by donning their white coats from the hands of their academics. This special event, held on November 22, Dentists' Day, offered dental candidates both a symbolic and emotional start.
