Ahmet Atilla Şentürk is graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Letters in 1980 and entered the Department of Old Turkish Literature of the same university as an assistant. In 1987, he finished his doctoral thesis on "XVI. Asra Kadar Anadolu Sahası Mesnevîlerinde Edebî Tasvirler". During the academic years of 1991-1993, he was a visiting professor at the Ohio State University, USA, in the Department of Near Eastern Languages with a dissertation on ‘‘Daily Life in the Ottoman Empire in Light of Literary Texts’’. As an associate professor at Istanbul University in 1993 and as a professor in 1999, he gave lectures and published books on the history of literature, text commentary, text repairation and social life in the light of literary texts. Some of his works are: “Yahyâ Beğ'in Şehzade Mustafa Mersiyesi yahut Kanunî Hicviyesi” (Enderun Kitabevi, 1998); Osmanlı Şiiri Antolojisi, (Yapı Kredi Kültür Sanat Yayıncılık, 1999); Eski Türk Edebiyatı Tarihi (Dergâh Yayıncılık, İstanbul 2007). He was retired from Istanbul University Faculty of Letters in 2010, founded the ''Osmanlı Edebiyatı Araştırmaları Merkezi OSEDAM'' in 2016 and started publishing his work, ‘‘Osmanlı Şiiri Kılavuzu’’, which he had been working on for many years.
