Arriving on the scene of higher education in Turkey in 2015, Istinye University today celebrated its 9th anniversary in a ceremony uniting faculty, administrative staff and students. The spirited celebration lifted morale and sparked motivation in recognizing Istinye University’s successes since its establishment and affirming its education and research goals in the coming years.
The ceremony began with a speech by Rector Prof. Dr. Erkan İbiş, followed by an address by founder and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Muharrem Usta.
"SQUEEZING 3 YEARS INTO 1 YEAR AS WE PROGRESS"
Opening his remarks, Prof. Dr. Erkan İbiş confirmed the University’s founding goals and emphasized its priority of graduating accomplished and ready global citizens. İbiş stated that Istinye University is “squeezing 3 years into 1 year” in its progress and that its rapid growth and development have attracted national and international attention.
"THERE IS NOTHING WE CANNOT ACHIEVE"
Proclaiming, "There is nothing we cannot achieve," Dr. Muharrem Usta, Istinye University’s founder, said the University’s goal of becoming the "best university" will be realized in its 100th year, a goal he pledged will never be compromised. "We continue our journey by growing," said Usta, stating that collectively we are all one.
20 ISTINYE UNIVERSITY STUDENTS TO BE SENT TO THE BEST 50 LABORATORIES
In a surprise announcement Usta stated that each year, twenty Istinye University doctoral students will be sent to the world's top fifty R&D laboratories and that all expenses of these students will be paid.
The 9th-year celebrations concluded after the speeches with a performance by the Istinye University student orchestra and choir. The orchestra performed twelve musical selections to great acclaim.
