Istinye University Architectural Design Master's Program with Thesis aims to educate visionary designers who approach architecture not merely as a process of building production, but as a multidimensional field of cultural, technological, and intellectual research. Our program seeks to provide students with an original design language and academic depth by combining contemporary architectural practices with theoretical critique.
Rapidly changing urban dynamics and technological possibilities are redefining the boundaries of architectural design. At Istinye University, we offer a broad research spectrum ranging from digital design tools to sustainable urban strategies. Through an interdisciplinary approach, students gain the ability to synthesize social, aesthetic, and technical parameters and develop innovative solutions to complex architectural problems.
Research-Oriented Design and Academic Expertise:
Our thesis-based master's process enables students to develop their own design philosophies and ground these approaches in a scientific methodology. The program’s prominent academic pillars are as follows:
- Theoretical and Critical Perspective: Questioning design practices on an intellectual basis through architectural theories, debates on modernity, and contemporary architectural discourses.
- Advanced Design Technologies: Integration of contemporary tools such as computational design, digital fabrication methods, and Building Information Modeling (BIM) into design processes.
- Scientific Research and Original Thesis: A comprehensive thesis study conducted under the supervision of expert faculty members, addressing an original architectural issue and contributing academically to the literature.
Our graduates who meet the standards set by the Istinye University Graduate Education and Teaching Regulations, successfully complete their credit-bearing courses, and defend their original thesis are awarded the Master’s Degree in Architectural Design. With this qualification, they may work as leading designers in professional architecture offices or continue their academic careers at the doctoral level.
