Istinye University Cinema and Television (English) Master's Program with Thesis aims to educate visionary artists and scholars who will explore the aesthetic, technical, and theoretical boundaries of moving images and make original contributions to the global media ecosystem. The fact that the language of instruction is entirely English enables our students to master international film literature and build careers integrated with the world cinema industry.
Today, cinema and television have evolved beyond being mere storytelling tools under the impact of digital transformation; they have become complex disciplines with social, political, and technological layers. Our program offers a broad spectrum ranging from classical film theories to contemporary digital media practices, allowing students to synthesize critical thinking skills with technical competencies.
Intellectual Depth and Vision for Aesthetic Research:
Our thesis-based master's process enables students to develop their own artistic language and ground this approach in a scientific methodology. The program’s prominent academic pillars are as follows:
- Theoretical Criticism and Film Analysis: Gaining an in-depth intellectual perspective through the turning points of cinema history, genre studies, auteur theory, and cultural studies.
- Contemporary Media and Digital Narrative: Technical and theoretical specialization in new media technologies, transmedia storytelling, and the aesthetic transformation of digital platforms.
- Academic Specialization and Original Thesis: A comprehensive thesis study, conducted under faculty supervision, written in English, and addressing a cinema-TV issue in accordance with international academic standards.
Our graduates who fulfill the criteria set by the Istinye University Graduate Education and Teaching Regulations, successfully complete their credit-bearing courses, and defend their original thesis are awarded the Master’s Degree in Cinema and Television. With this qualification, they may work as managers and content designers in global media organizations or continue their academic careers at an international level.
