Midwifery PhD | İstinye University

İstinye University Midwifery Doctorate Program has been designed to provide scientific depth to the discipline of midwifery, introduce innovative approaches to professional practice, and cultivate academic leaders who will address the theoretical needs of the field. Our program, conducted in Turkish, aims to elevate the clinical and scientific competencies of midwives to international standards.

Academic Process and Competency:
The doctoral journey, with a standard duration of eight semesters, begins with intensive theoretical and practical coursework during the first three semesters. In the fourth semester, candidates enter the qualification examination preparation phase while simultaneously participating in advanced seminars focusing on scientific research methodologies and academic publishing.

Students who successfully complete the qualification examination proceed, as of the fifth semester, to the doctoral dissertation stage, where they are expected to make an original academic contribution to the field. When necessary, the duration of study may be extended up to twelve semesters. Graduates who fulfill all program requirements are awarded the title of “Doctor” and obtain the highest academic degree in the science of midwifery.

  • Academic Midwife Identity: The opportunity to guide scientific literature by joining faculty positions in the Departments of Midwifery and Nursing within Faculties of Health Sciences.

  • Strategic Clinical Roles: Leadership positions in private and public hospitals, medical centers, and community health units, such as “Specialist Midwife,” “Head Midwife,” “Department Supervisor Midwife,” or “Educator.”

  • Broad Service Spectrum: Provision of scientifically grounded expertise across all levels of the healthcare ecosystem, from family health centers and home care institutions to rehabilitation units and emergency health services.
