Political Science and International Relations (English) | İstinye University

Istinye University Political Science and International Relations (English) Master's Program with Thesis aims to educate experts who can analyze the complex structure of the global system, possess advanced strategic foresight, and become authoritative scholars in the academic world. The fact that the language of instruction is entirely English enables our students to master the language of international diplomacy and directly contribute to the global academic literature.

Today, international relations have evolved beyond traditional interstate diplomacy into a multilayered field that includes energy security, migration policies, global political economy, and cyber diplomacy. Our program approaches this dynamic process with both theoretical depth and methodological rigor, equipping students with the ability to critically analyze political transformations occurring around the world.

Strategic Analysis and Vision for Academic Research:
Our thesis-based master's process maximizes students’ abilities to conduct independent research and define complex political problems on a scientific foundation. The curriculum is structured around the following core academic pillars:

  • Theoretical Depth and Political Thought: Developing a universal intellectual perspective through classical and contemporary international relations theories, comparative politics, and political philosophy.
  • Regional and Global Security Studies: In-depth specialization in regional focuses such as Middle Eastern, Eurasian, and Western politics, alongside foreign policy analysis and models of global governance.
  • Scientific Methodology and Original Thesis: A comprehensive thesis study, conducted under faculty supervision, written in English, and designed with the potential to be presented on international academic platforms.

Our graduates who meet the criteria set by the Istinye University Graduate Education and Teaching Regulations, successfully complete their credit-bearing courses, and defend their original thesis are awarded the Master’s Degree in Political Science and International Relations. With this qualification, they may work as strategists in international organizations and diplomatic missions or continue their academic careers on a global scale.
