In vivo ve in vitro deneysel diyabet/insulin direnci modellerinde araştırmalar gerçekleştirmiş ve diyabetik kardiyomiyopati/kardiyak insulin direncinin altında yatan elektrofizyolojik ve moleküler etkileşimleri incelemiştir. Dr. Öğretim Üyesi Esma Nur Okatan'ın Web of Science’ da taranan ve SSCI kapsamında 18 uluslararası araştırma makalesi bulunmaktadır ve bu makalelerin toplam atıf sayısı 396, h-endeksi 13 ve i10-endeksi 14’dür.
