Research Assistant Selin Kaynar from the Department of Digital Game Design participated in the symposium titled Games Matters: Innovating Game Studies and Research, held on December 12, 2025 in Bari, Italy. The event was organized in collaboration with SAE Institute – Conservatory of Matera and the Polytechnic University of Bari at ODE (Officina degli Esordi), Bari.

As part of the symposium, Selin Kaynar presented her study titled “Beyond Realism: Architectural Stylization as Critical Commentary in Indie Games.” The study examines how architectural stylization in independent (indie) games functions not only as a visual preference but also as a tool of critical expression.

Bringing together researchers from different disciplines in the field of game studies, the symposium provided an important platform for contemporary theoretical discussions and interdisciplinary approaches. This participation contributed to the international academic visibility of our department in the field of digital game research.
