Nutrition and Dietetics | İstinye University

Adequate and balanced nutrition, which plays a crucial role in combating both communicable and non-communicable diseases—among the leading causes of mortality nationally and globally—constitutes a fundamental requirement for the protection and promotion of health at every stage of life, from preconception to old age. Dietitians are graduates of higher education programs in nutrition and dietetics and possess professional competence within their field. Over the past five decades, the significance of dietitians in healthcare has increased substantially. They are actively involved in assessing and planning the nutritional needs of individuals to ensure growth and development, maintenance of life, and the attainment of optimal physical and mental well-being, as well as in developing nutrition care plans for individuals with infectious and chronic diseases.

Beyond healthcare services, dietitians assume roles in various sectors, contributing to the improvement of societal quality of life. They design and evaluate nutrition programs, implement nutrition policies, and develop evidence-based recommendations. In order to achieve these objectives, there is a critical need for researchers and academicians who are equipped with advanced knowledge and skills at the graduate level.

İstinye University Nutrition and Dietetics Doctorate Program aims to educate academicians and researchers who will deliver services in accordance with international standards of quality, aligned with the vision of our university. The program seeks to prepare professionals who will contribute effectively to hospitals and all fields related to nutrition, while also strengthening the academic capacity required for undergraduate education.
