WHAT DO WE AIM?
The Department of English Translation and Interpreting, with its continuously updated and developed curriculum, aims to train translators equipped with the knowledge and skills to adapt to the ever-evolving roles of translators in the age of technology and information and to provide versatile translation services. In addition to general courses that cover theoretical knowledge and practical applications of both oral and written translation, the program also includes specialized courses such as media translation, medical translation, technical translation, literary translation, and translation technologies. These specialized courses are conducted in the Simultaneous Interpretation Laboratory, which is equipped with modern conference interpreting tools.

DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH TRANSLATION AND INTERPRETING AT ISTINYE
- Thanks to the compulsory courses integrated into the program, you will have an English Language Teaching Certificate when you graduate. Therefore, you will have the advantage of teaching English and continuing your postgraduate education in this field.
- Through the courses that are in common with the English Language and Literature department at the rate of 68%, you will have the opportunity to do minor and double major without any additional fee.
- You will have the opportunity to learn Spanish, Italian, German, French, Russian, Chinese or Arabic through compulsory second foreign language courses in the second year and third foreign language courses taken as elective in the third year.
- Through the Erasmus+ program, you will have the opportunity to study in France, Macedonia, Lithuania, Poland,
- Romania, Italy, Spain, Czech Republic or Latvia.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES AFTER GRADUATION
Graduates of the Department of English Translation and Interpreting, with their diverse knowledge and skills, can work in various fields within the private and public sectors. They can undertake roles such as written and oral translators, editors, post-editors, teachers, communication and customer service representatives in institutions such as ministries, courts, translation agencies, notary offices, media organizations, educational institutions, commercial enterprises, healthcare organizations, shopping centers and complexes, tourism companies, accommodation and transportation service providers, among others.
Furthermore, thanks to the English Language Teaching and English Literature courses taken during undergraduate studies, graduates can pursue postgraduate education in these fields, as well as in Translation Studies, and may also embark on an academic career.
