Asst. Prof. Melike Atakol obtained her bachelor's degree from the Department of Chemistry at İnönü University in 2007, and her M.Sc. (2010) and Ph.D. (2015) degrees from the Department of Chemistry at the Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences, Ankara University. She has been a faculty member at the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences at İstinye University since 2022, and has served as the Head of Department since 2023.
Specializing in analytical chemistry, Dr. Atakol's research interests encompass chromatographic analyses, thermal analysis methods, trace element determination, and new generation microextraction techniques.
regarding her ongoing projects, she serves as the Principal Investigator in a TÜBİTAK 3501 project focused on the synthesis of bismuth sulfide-based magnetic nanocomposites and their application in heavy metal determination; and as a Researcher in a TÜBİTAK 1001 (Polar) project aiming to determine pharmaceutical active ingredients in environmental and biological samples from Horseshoe Island via LC-MS/MS. Furthermore, she contributes to scientific research as an Academic Advisor for undergraduate students within the scope of TÜBİTAK 2209-A and 2209-B projects.
