Prof. Pınar Çakır Hatır received her B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Chemistry from Boğaziçi University and completed her Ph.D. in Biotechnology at Sorbonne Universities – University of Technology of Compiègne, France, in 2012. During her doctoral studies, she focused on molecularly imprinted polymer nanostructures and worked as an early-stage researcher in the EU-funded NASCENT and IRMED networks.
She is currently an Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Biomedical Engineering at İstinye University, where she also serves as the Director of the Nanotechnology and Advanced Materials Research Center (İSÜNANOMER). Dr. Çakır Hatır has coordinated and participated in numerous national and international research projects, including TÜBİTAK and Horizon Europe programs, and is an active member of several COST Actions.
Her research interests include molecular imprinting, smart polymers and hydrogels, nanostructured biomaterials, targeted drug and gene delivery systems, and sustainable polymer design based on renewable resources. She received the Marie-Skłodowska Curie Actions Seal of Excellence Award in 2019 for her proposal, with a score of 88.4%.
