Between 1994 and 2005, he served as the Deputy Chief Physician and Chief Physician at Ankara University Faculty of Medicine’s Cebeci Hospital, as the Chairman of the Faculty of Medicine’s Nuclear Medicine Department and as the Vice Rector of Ankara University. Prof. Dr. Erkan Ibiş served as the Rector of Ankara University between 2012 and 2020. In recognition of his career achievements and his many published articles, Prof. Dr. Ibiş has been recognized with international state awards that include the Order of the State of Romania (Award of Merit), the Order of the State of Italy (Commendatore) and the Order of the State of Hungary (Magyar Erdemrend Tisztikeresztje). Prof. Dr. Erkan İbiş has also served as the Chairman of the University Hospitals Association, the Chairman of the Turkish-Russian Societal Forum Education and Science Committee, and the Advisor to the President of the Council of Higher Education (CoHE). He remains a member of the Ethics Committee for Public Officials and the Ministry of Health Medical Specialization Board (TUK). As of January 2022 Prof. Dr. Ibiş has served as the Rector of Istinye University.
