​Beyoğlu’s Cinematic Memory Put on Record

The first gathering of the “Beyoğlu Cinemas Memory Center Project,” a joint initiative by the Istanbul Cinema Office and Galatasaray University Faculty of Communication, took place on Thursday, March 12, at IBB Beyoğlu Cinema. The event began at 20:00 and brought together academics and figures from the world of cinema.

Our Dean, Prof. Nezih Erdoğan, was among the speakers at the opening panel, which aims to document the rich cinema culture of Beyoğlu and the personal testimonies of those who lived it. Following the panel, an open-mic session allowed attendees to share their own memories of the neighborhood’s historic movie theaters.
