Assoc. Prof. Ayfer Ustabaş, faculty member of the Department of Economics and Director of EPAM, discussed in her interview with MarineDeal News how the pandemic, energy crisis, and geopolitical tensions in recent years have led to profound disruptions in global trade. She highlighted that these factors have made trade more fragile, increased the importance of regional supply networks, and shifted focus toward strategic sectors.
Dr. Ustabaş emphasized that in this new global order, Türkiye will play a critical role in areas such as nearshoring relations with the European Union, digitalization, and the green transition. She noted that advancements in automotive electrification, the EU Green Deal, and the rise of digital services will be key determinants of the country’s competitiveness.
