International Trade and Business

As the Department of International Trade and Business, we offer a multidimensional education designed to prepare our students for a rapidly evolving and increasingly borderless global environment, where international trade and cross-border business relations have become more crucial than ever. Our department is structured with a strong multidisciplinary foundation, providing robust academic grounding in global economics, international trade, multinational corporate governance, international marketing, and finance.

Our curriculum equips students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills, cultivating a global business mindset. Students gain a solid understanding of international economics and politics, and acquire the competencies to work in multinational companies, manage export-import processes, and make strategic decisions in global markets. The program also addresses contemporary issues such as digital transformation in trade, e-commerce, international entrepreneurship, and sustainable business models.

Academic and professional development is further supported by faculty-led consultancy activities, peer mentoring practices, alumni engagement, and courses delivered by industry professionals.

Focusing on enhancing employability through competency development, our program enables students to gain intercultural awareness via a compulsory second foreign language. The 7+1 cooperative education model allows students to gain real-world experience in their final semester by working in a professional setting. Additionally, through minor programs, students can specialize in complementary fields such as data analysis, social media management, advertising, and political science. Elective courses tailored to individual interests and participation in student clubs further contribute to their personal and professional growth.

Our graduates pursue successful careers as:

· Finance, human resources, international trade, and marketing specialists in multinational corporations,
· Operational and strategic experts in customs and logistics firms,
· Foreign trade specialists in domestic companies engaged in import and export,
· Consultants conducting international market analyses in consulting firms,
· Experts and auditors in public institutions such as the Ministry of Trade or the Foreign Economic Relations Board,
· Entrepreneurs establishing their own businesses,
· Academics continuing their graduate studies and research careers.

I work as a pilot in a private company. Although my field of study and my current profession may not seem closely related, the courses I took during my undergraduate education have been highly beneficial in areas such as team management, risk perception, and risk management. In addition, I believe that the knowledge and skills I have gained will also help me advance into a managerial position in this profession.

Supportive advisors, knowledgeable professors, a positive campus environment, and amazing friends made my university journey truly special. I, not only have a International Trde diploma but also have a minor degree in radio, TV and Cinema. It was an amazing opprtunity to have them both.

My time at İstinye Üniversite was academically enriching, with supportive faculty, active student clubs, and valuable real-world learning opportunities. I’m especially grateful for the Erasmus experience, which broadened my perspective by connecting me with diverse cultures, people, and communities. As someone with a weaker passport, Erasmus made It possible for me to travel across Europe; an opportunity I otherwise wouldn’t have had. The university’s warm and personal admission process also stood out; they welcomed my family’s concerns and took the time to make my parents feel reassured and included as I prepared to study in Turkey. This level of care made a lasting impact on me.

Due to my interest in e-commerce, I chose Istinye University (ISU), a community that has guided me throughout my journey with mentors whose competencies I trust. It is a diverse environment that encourages the integration of various perspectives and learning approaches. My department represented a progressive mindset that focuses on developing and evolving expertise, offering an approach that goes beyond conventional academic paths.I am currently pursuing my master’s degree at the Toronto School of Management.
