The Participatory Workshop of the project titled "Co-designing Learning for Evidence-based Climate Policy in Marmara’s Municipalities, Türkiye", co-led by Prof. Dr. Ayselin YILDIZ and supported by the British Academy, was held on 21 November 2025 at the Marmara Municipalities Union (MMB). The workshop brought together climate-focused representatives from 17 different municipalities across the Marmara region. During the event, participants discussed the specific needs of municipalities concerning climate change and proposed potential training topics to be organized in February 2026.
Dr. Dolf te Lintelo from the Institute of Development Studies, researcher Roz Price, Director of the MMB Center for Sustainability and Climate Change & Senior Projects Specialist Özge Sivrikaya, and Meryem Kayan from Şişli Municipality guided the project team and actively supported the group sessions throughout the workshop.
In the subsequent sessions of the event, the findings of the needs assessment conducted with municipalities were shared, and MMB’s educational tools were also evaluated.
The project aims to strengthen knowledge systems that support effective and socially just climate adaptation and mitigation actions within and among urban municipalities in Türkiye’s Marmara Region.
