The Healthcare Management Department hosted a comprehensive program on October 26, 2026, within the scope of the SAY-407 "Management Practices in Healthcare Institutions" course, featuring Dr. Gözde Toktaş, Occupational Health and Safety Specialist at VM Medical Park Pendik Hospital, as a guest speaker.
The event began with Dr. Toktaş's presentation themed "Disaster and Emergency Management in Healthcare Institutions," where she shared her field-based corporate experiences and fundamental insights. Following the presentation, a hands-on workshop session was held with the active participation of the students.
During the gathering, critical topics such as establishing disaster awareness in hospitals, ensuring uninterrupted service delivery during crises, proactive risk planning, and establishing safe healthcare facility standards were examined through current field practices. In the workshop phase, participants worked in teams on realistic hospital crisis scenarios, translating their theoretical foundation into managerial decision-making practices.
We would like to thank Dr. Gözde Toktaş for sharing her sectoral expertise and experiences with us, our Department Head Prof. Dr. Hacer Özgen Narcı for enlightening us with her valuable contributions at every stage of the event, our faculty member Dr. Hakan Akın for organizing these events as the course coordinator by inviting prominent experts in their fields every week, and all our students who contributed with their participation.
