EDUCATION AND TRAINING POLICY DOCUMENT
Istinye University defines its education and training approach, adopted in line with its mission of educating qualified individuals, through this policy document structured with a quality assurance perspective. This document outlines the fundamental principles, priorities, objectives, and mechanisms related to learning and teaching processes, including distance education; and aims to establish a shared understanding and awareness among all stakeholders.
Istinye University has adopted the mission of educating leading individuals who guide knowledge, possess critical and analytical thinking skills, demonstrate multidimensional thinking abilities, are committed to universal ethical values, embrace innovative thinking, and have a vision to transform society. It considers each student as a creative and entrepreneurial actor who will shape the future.
Going beyond the traditional teaching approach where the student is a passive listener, Istinye University adopts a student-centered, learning-oriented, participatory, interactive, technology-supported, and practice-based education model that utilizes active learning methods. This model focuses on artificial intelligence, digital transformation, advanced technologies, R&D, and social developments. Learning activities supported by its multidisciplinary structure and practice-oriented intra- and interdisciplinary teamwork, with reduced theoretical load, aim to develop students’ professional competencies and vocational skills while promoting lifelong learning. The learning process is personalized to provide diverse learning experiences. Students are encouraged to conduct research. Their cognitive and social development is supported, and they are guided to increase their intellectual capacity and act in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Education, training, and research activities are supported through university-industry collaborations and focus on contributing to society. In line with the principle of equality, full access to educational opportunities is ensured for all students regardless of language, religion, race, gender, or disability. The aim is to educate graduates who possess universal values, view diversity as a richness, and are competent global citizens.
Istinye University builds its academic staff with qualified instructors who conduct research, provide guidance, demonstrate empathy, continuously improve themselves, adhere to ethical values, and believe in lifelong learning.
All academic programs at Istinye University are planned to develop students’ knowledge, skills, attitudes, and competencies. Course contents, learning outcomes, and assessment systems aligned with program outcomes are defined in detail. The level at which students achieve these outcomes is regularly monitored and evaluated. Efforts to ensure that all programs are accredited by relevant accreditation bodies are prioritized.
Based on this policy document, an education and training quality assurance system is developed and its implementation is ensured across all units.
